• Behavior: Active, semi-aggressive, and schooling. Best kept in groups of 6+ to reduce nipping at other fish. Fast swimmers, prefer open tank space.
• Habitat: Native to Southeast Asia (Sumatra, Borneo). Thrives in warm (74-79°F), slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.0-7.0). Likes well-planted tanks with hiding spots.
• Diet: Omnivorous. Eats flakes, pellets, live/frozen foods (brine shrimp, bloodworms). Varied diet enhances color.
• Care Level: Easy to moderate. Hardy but needs clean water and regular tank maintenance. Tank size: minimum 20 gallons for a school.
• Compatibility: Best with fast-moving, similarly sized fish (danios, other barbs). Avoid slow or long-finned species (e.g., bettas, guppies) due to nipping.
